A HOST of former stars of Liverpool Football Club have congratulated Tummery Athletic on winning the Mercer League trophy for the first time in the club’s 46-year history.
The Dromore-based side were presented with the prestigious Division One silverware by league chairman Neil Jardine following a friendly with newly-promoted Enniskillen Athletic at Crawford’s Lane on Saturday.
As part of a huge day of celebrations a former Tummery player Brian McLaughlin, the owner of Carragher’s Bar in Times Square, New York, recruited the services of a number of Liverpool legends to compile a special video that was played during the post-match celebrations.
Former Anfield greats Jamie Carragher, Phil Thompson, Steve Nichol, Robbie Fowler, John Barnes and Graeme Souness took time out to congratulate Tummery and their player-manager Ryan Hanna, a huge Liverpool fan, on their historic first title success.
Ex-Reds and England international John Barnes said, “I just want to congratulate Ryan Klopp, sorry Ryan Hanna and Tummery on winning the league, just like we did at Liverpool. It’s the first time in your history, well done boys, I’m proud of you.”
