Local players named for Western area Regions’ Cup squad training next week

A NUMBER of players from local clubs have been invited to take part in an initial training session to select a Western team that could represent Northern Ireland in the forthcoming UEFA Regions’ Cup competition.

An intermediate round of the competition for amatuer footballers takes place in Northern Ireland in October.

Before that a Western select team will play an Eastern select team over two legs for the right to represent Northern Ireland against the Czech Republic, Wales and Sweden.

That selection process begins next week with a Western training session being held at Ferney Park on Wednesday evening, January 26, 6.45pm.

Among the players invited to take part include representatives from Dergview, Ballinamallard United and Strabane Athletic.

Current Ballinamallard manager Harry McConkey will again manage the NI team.
