WHILE Niall McGinn is making plans for life after playing football the good news for Aberdeen supporters and indeed for fans of the Northern Ireland team is that the Tyrone attacker has no intention of hanging up his boots any time soon.
McGinn, who turns 33 next month, recently returned to training with the Dons in preparation for next season.
The Donaghmore man, who produced a short video to assist with the promotion of his former club Dungannon Swifts’ new kit which carries the NHS logo in recognition of the invaluable role played by healthcare staff during the coronavirus pandemic, has become a firm favourite since returning to Pittodrie following a brief spell playing in South Korea.
Speaking on last week’s Ulster Herald Boot Room podcast McGinn said that despite playing 13 years as a professional and having been capped 58 times by his country he still considers himself very fortunate to get paid for doing something he loves.
“Win, lose or draw at the weekend I’m always delighted to walk into work on a Monday morning knowing that I’m a profesional footballer – it’s just a wonderful thing to be involved in,” he said.
