Lowe ready for top six challenge at Reds

KRIS Lowe insists he signed for Cliftonville to challenge himself at a top-six club.

The Omagh man joined the Reds from Dungannon Swifts at the end of January and came off the bench for his debut in the 1-1 draw against Glenavon on Saturday and was in the starting line-up for Tuesday evening’s 2-2 draw against in-form Coleraine.

Lowe would have been out of contract at Swifts in the summer and after talks with Cliftonville boss Paddy McLaughlin the versatile midfielder decided the time was right to embrace a new challenge.

“For a while now I have wanted to be competing at the top end of the table and challenge myself further. That was the main reason for the move,” he said. “I needed a new challenge and I just thought it was time. My contract was up at the end of the season and I thought it was a good time. I’m 25, I should be coming into the prime of career and I just thought it was an opportunity I didn’t want let pass me by.”
