A TEAM from Ballinamallard United will return to the Fermanagh and Western League next season.
That was confirmed at last night’s annual meeting of the local league which accepted an entry from the Ferney Park club to join Division Three.
This time last year Ballinamallard United Reserves left the NIFL Championship/PIL Development League to join the north west-based Northern Ireland Intermediate League (NIIL).
However NIIL recently folded due to a lack of teams and that left the Mallards looking a new home for their second string.
After exploring a number of options, it was decided a return to the Fermanagh and Western League was the way to go.
The acceptance of their application at last evening’s meeting means the Ferney Park club will have a presence in the local league for the first time in 11 years.
Five new teams also had their entries to Reserve Division Three ratified. They are Enniskillen Rangers Colts, Enniskillen Rovers Reserves, Fivemiletown United Reserves, LIsnaskea Rovers Reserves and Strathroy Harps thirds.
The new season will kick-off on Saturday, August 19 with the Kennedy Cup Final for charity between Tummery Athletic and Strathroy Harps provisionally pencilled in for Thursday, August 10 at Mountjoy United’s Lisnagirr Road.
