There will be no change to the All-County League structure in ladies football in 2024.
At the recent County Board monthly meeting clubs voted in favour to retain the status quo of the play off structure with semi-finals and finals, rather than the top team in the league being crowned champions.
The proposal from the fixtures committee was to free up dates to allow for potential Championship replays and a less condensed Championship structure, with back to back matches over successive weekends, but clubs were happy with the current set up with a big majority voting in favour.
The fixtures group had sent details of the two options to the clubs for discussion ahead of the meeting. While there was some discussion on the night no change in the structures ultimately resulted with the All-County Leagues proposed to start on April 28th.
The aim is to ensure a smoother programe of games with limited blank weekends.
Fixtures Chairman Paddy O’Brien could not confirm details on a potential change for Junior and Junior B clubs. A proposal potentially scrapping junior B had been on the table and was discussed last week although there’s no confirmation yet whether it will be proceeded with.
Meanwhile Killyman and Stewartstown have come together to ensure youth football at the two clubs.
The St Mary’s will play at under-14 level featuring players from the Harps while Stewartstown will field at under-16s grade with players from Killyman coming on board. The move was approved by delegates from all clubs and has been welcomed to ensure the youth in the area can contunue to enjoy competitive games.
A similar link up between Clann na Gael in Tyrone and Craigbane in Derry proved a success last year.
The Tyrone Under 14 league, like all youth competitions is sponsored again by Adman. It got underway last Sunday with games in all four grades including the new development level. In Grade One there were wins for Cappagh, Kidress, Edendork and Omagh Action continues this Sunday.
