North West FA make call on season start

THERE will be no competitive football under the auspices of the North West Football Association until the beginning of October at the earliest.

At a meeting of various stakeholders and affiliated representatives of a number of league bodies in Limavady Football Club on Monday evening 
it was unanimously decided that there would be no competitive football for the foreseeable future.

Jerry Stewart, secretary of the Northern Ireland Intermediate League said that there was agreement across the board against a return to football any sooner that October 3.

“There were a lot of issues discussed and potential problems raised and it was decided that everyone’s interests were best served by pushing the beginning of next season back to October,” he said.

“We want to give clubs some direction and clarity. Everyone agreed this was the best course of action and there were no dissenting voices whatsoever.”
