IT may have taken four attempts for them to finally meet in the ring but after the long wait, James Gallagher seemed in no mood to waste any more time on Saturday night as he dispatched Cal Ellanor inside the first round.
The Strabanimal forced his Sunderland opponent to tap out four minutes and 31 seconds into their contest which had previously been postponed on three separate occasions due to illness, injury and Covid-19.
After their brief encounter, which was shown live on Channel 5, the Bellator star, who is on track for a World title shot sooner rather than later, said: “I came in here the best I’ve ever been.
“They say it’s all talk but I’ve had me mouth shut for months and I still come out here and do it.
“Silence to the whole [expletive deleted] division. Silence! Give me a big bag of money and I’ll fight any fooking one of them.
“Where I come from in Strabane, I’m the toughest [expletive deleted] in the whole thing, and nobody can stop me!
“I’m just extremely proud of myself. I’ve worked hard. I’m 23 years old. Everybody counts me out but I count myself in every fooking time! Give me that belt.
“It’s mine.”
