ON THE back of some eye-catching results against Premier League opposition in pre-season, Omagh Ladies are looking forward to the new season which starts on Saturday against Rainey with a degree of confidence.
On Thursday last an Aimee Buchanan strike helped Omagh secure a 1-1 draw against Armagh and Kathryn McDowell (2) and Emma Shortt were both on target as they defeated Raphoe 3-0 at Campsie Playing Fields on Saturday.
While cautioning against reading too much into pre-season results, those impressive performances have left club’s player-coach Lyndsey McCay and her players cautiously optimistic about the Senior League One campaign ahead.
“There are going to be no cup competitions this season so our focus, like every other team, will be solely on the league,” said McCay.
“In terms of ambitions I suppose it will be something similar to last year in that we’ll be aiming for a top half finish.”
