Paddy McMahon is named president of Omagh St Enda’s

A FORMER player who clinched an Ulster title with Tyrone over five decades ago, has been bestowed with the prestigious position of President at Omagh St Enda’s GAA club.

The announcement was made at a special ceremony recently where Paddy McMahon was honored for his remarkable contributions to the club both on and off the field.

He takes over from Vincent Young and follows in a long line of illustrious recipients of the position.

While the role is primarily ceremonial, Mr McMahon’s extensive experience and dedication to Omagh St Enda’s ensures he will bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the position.

Mr McMahon represented the club at all levels with distinction during his playing career.

He was on the Tyrone team which won the 1973 Ulster title, and played for Omagh in the 1980 Tyrone County Final which they lost to Trillick after a replay.

Mr McMahon has also been deeply involved in the St Enda’s club throughout his life as both a coach and volunteer.

He has also had a long association with Omagh Boys and Girls Club.

Speaking on his new role as president for 2024, Mr McMahon expressed his gratitude and described the appointment as a ‘huge honour’.

Accompanied by his wife, Cath, and family, Mr McMahon’s inauguration was met with warm wishes and accolades from fellow club members.

Omagh St Enda’s chairman, Conor Sally, said, “Paddy has done so much not only for the club, but for the community as a whole and for our youth.

“He is a worthy recipient of this honour and everyone in Omagh wishes him the very best wishes for the years ahead.”
