THERE was no hesitation from Ardboe native Mattie Brady when new Tyrone Senior ladies manager Kevin McCrystal asked him to join his set up at the end of last year. With a glowing reputation as a top Strength and Conditioning coach, taking on the new role was something that excited Brady“ I see it as a fresh challenge,” explained the 31 year old. “To be given the opportunity to be involved and oversee the strength and conditioning provision within a senior county set up has always been one of my motivations since I started pursuing this career 10 years ago.”On a normal week Brady, a former underage player at the Rossa’s, would be on the park and in the gym with the Tyrone group but lockdown restrictions has prompted a complete change in structure and now it’s individual programmes and live zoom sessions with the Tyrone players.Despite the drawbacks involved due to Covid safety protocols there have been some positives for the coach.“ I haven’t really got my teeth into yet. There’s only so much you can know about the squad through our online systems and in reality we won’t really be able to gauge how well the girls have been training individually until we see them compete against each other on the field.“ However, from a coaching perspective, this lockdown has really taught me how to be more creative with my planning and delivery of S&C coaching.”FULL STORY IN LAST WEEK’S STRABANE CHRONICLE
