SION Swifts smashed Linfield Ladies for six to record their first victory of the season at Melvin this afternoon.
A splendid brace by Michelle McDaid and goals from Tasmin McCarter, Kelly Crompton, Erin McLaughlin and Kerryanne Brown secured a shock win in only new manager Ryan McConville’s second game in charge.
McCarter got the ball rolling before strikes by Crompton, McLaughlin and McDaid had Swifts four up at the interval.
Brown made it 5-0 on the resumption of the second half before McDaid completed the rout with her second.
A thoroughly miserable afternoon for Linfield was complete when Ali Smyth failed to convert a penalty.
The win lifts Sion, who host Cliftonville on Wednesday evening, off the bottom of the table
