Sion Swifts Ladies appoint new manager

Ryan McConville has been appointed the new head coach at Sion Swifts Ladies.

The former Linfield and Crusaders manager  is an A Licence coach and has worked in Europe, Asia and the US.

Before football was suspended the Northern Irishman coached Forfar Farmington in the Scottish Women’s Premiership.

McConville takes over from Paul McLaughlin who took charge at the start of the season after Tony McGinley had decided to stand down.

Sion are currently bottom of the Women’s Premierhip and McConville said he was relishing the challenge of helping the north west outfit climb the table.

“I am absolutely delighted to be given the opportunity to join Sion as their Head Coach,” he said

“When I spoke with Tony and James both I know well and have huge respect for along with their passion for women’s football it was a challenge and opportunity I could not refuse

“I have missed elite football since my departure from Forfar and this is a fantastic opportunity to get back into the dugout at this level

“I can’t wait to team up with what I believe is a young talented squad and I hope I can use my experience to work alongside the management team to help this squad climb the league table.”

McConville’s first game in charge will be against Crusaders Strikers
