McGuckin’s back in Dergview’s black and white

EMMETT McGuckin has returned to Bluefin Sport Championship outfit Dergview.

The Magherafelt man was released by Coleraine on Monday and some 24  hours later Dergview had announced McGuckin as their most recent new signing.

The former Derry GAA county star had made a name for himself at Dergview in the second half of the 2018-19 season when his goals helped transform the Darragh Park outfit from a team battling relegation to one challenging for the top six.

That earned the big striker a move to Coleraine last season however stiff competition for places meant limited game time and it seems the recent arrival of Curtis Allen meant that McGuckin has become surplus to requirement at the  Ballycastle Road showgrounds.

Sproule believes Coleraine’s loss is Dergview’s gain and he is hoping that he can again get the best out of the former Magherfelt Sky Blues attacker.

“We have signed Emmett and that is massive news for us as a club,” said the Derg supremo.

“The people around Castlederg need no introduction to him. He done well here before and his words to me were he ‘has unfinished business’. That’s the Emmett McGuckin we want to see.”
