SION Swifts Ladies star striker Kirsty McGuinness has been named the NIFootballAwards Women’s Personality of the Year.
McGuinness, who along with younger sister Caitlin, joined Swifts from champions Linfield in the close season, found the net an amazing 32 times in 21 games for the Blues last season.
In winning the pretigious award the goal Queen edged out her former team-mate Ashley Hutton and Glentoran player Demi Vance.
McGuinness captained the Blues to their fourth successive Premiership title in 2019 before moving to Sion Swifts Ladies.
“It’s always great to win awards. That’s what football is all about, it’s about winning things,” said Kirsty.
During the 2019 campaign Kirsty also became the first female player to win the Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Association’s Women’s Player of the Month on two occasions, an award that was inaugurated at the start of that season.
