SPRINT Academy Ireland held the first of its group sessions for underage sports people at Youth Sport Omagh, with further sessions planned for Strabane, when over 30 youngsters attended.
The idea behind Sprint Academy Ireland, which is run by coaches, Strabane’s Trev McGlynn and Newtownstewart’s Mark McBrearty, is to help sports people develop their sprinting speed, agility and power to enable them to maximise their potential in their chosen sport.
“It went really well for our first session in Omagh,” beamed McGlynn after the first two sessions – one for kids in P5-P7 and the other for secondary school pupils.
He continued: “It was really good and we had some really good athletes there from the worlds of Gaelic Football, soccer, motocross and swimming. It was definitely a good day.”
