A GIFTED young footballer from Strabane has been named in the Northern Ireland schools team to compete in this year’s U16 Victory Shield tournament.
Holy Cross College Year 12 student Adhamh Patton has been selected for the NI squad which locks horns with their counterparts from the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales next week.
The tournament is being hosted in Northern Ireland with Sean Paul Murray’s team facing Wales at Seaview on Sunday before taking on Scotland on Tuesday and ROI on Friday. Both those games will be played at HW Welders.
Patton’s selection is recognition of his burgeoning reputation as one of the best young players in the local game.
Adhamh is currently captain of the Derry City under-15 team and was selected following a trials process during the summer.
