Strain returns to the hotseat at Omagh

OMAGH St Enda’s have moved to appoint Laurence Strain as manager for the upcoming season following the recent departure of Carl McCabe.

It will be Strain’s second stint in charge of managing his native club. He led St Enda’s to the Tyrone Senior Championship in 2014, and they came agonisingly close to capturing provincial honours as well only to lose out to Slaughtneil by a point in the Ulster final. In more recent years, Strain managed Monaghan Harps in 2017 before taking the reins at Truagh Gaels last season.

Strain has formed a successful track record with Barry McGinn down through the years, and McGinn is also part of his management ticket, along with club coach Keith Burns.

Strain is a popular figure within the club but he has a tough enough task on his hands as Omagh haven’t fared too well in the championship in recent years. They lost out in a hotly contested first-round clash against Dromore in September, and after having completed two years in the hot-seat, Carl McCabe decided to step down from the role.
