Stronge is hoping that his team can come of age

JOINT manager of Killen Rangers Jason Stronge is hoping that the current Killen Rangers team will come of age this season.

There is very little change in the playing personnel at the Village Ground. Kyle Deery and Gerard Duddy have both returned following spells at Dergview Reserves and Omagh Hospitals respectively and Stronge and his right hand man Allister Sproule are hoping to build on the foundations that have been laid by Gary Sproule in recent seasons.

A number of Killen’s players have progressed through the youth ranks and the managerial double act, which has previously worked together in charge of club’s second string, are hoping for an improvement over the coming season.

“A man once told me if you won more than you lose you’re doing well, that’s what we’ll be looking for,” said Stronge.

“In the last couple of seasons the team has been involved with things at the wrong end of the table and we want to change that. This team has been together for a while and a lot of the players are coming 27 or 28 and should be peaking at some point.

“It’s a true saying that winning can become a habit and I think if we can get points on the board early then who knows. That will be key for me, to get those early wins and not being concerned by relegation from the outset. That would take the pressure off.”
