STRATHROY Harps’ Irish Junior Cup semi-final clash with Coalisland Athletic could be delayed because of an appeal by Enniskillen Town United.
The quarter-final tie between Harps and Town was abandoned in the final minutes after the match official claimed he had been assaulted.
Harps were leading 2-1 at the time and competition organisers the IFA subsequently ruled that the result should stand while a number of players were suspended for their part in a mass melee during the last-eight cup-tie.
Town were also expelled from the competition for next season.
However the Enniskillen club has appealed that decision to the IFA Appeals Committee and this week Harps were informed that a semi-final press evening due to take place last night (Wednesday) had been postponed.
The semi-finals were due to take place the week beginning Monday March 28 with Stangmore Park a possible venue for the meeting of Harps and Athletic.
Town’s appeal may well push that last-four encounter back to a later date.
