Almost 1000 properties affected by major power cut

ALMOST 1000 properties in the wider Omagh area have been affected by a major power outage this afternoon.

Traffic lights and shops have lost power on one of the busiest shopping days before Christmas.

Efforts are underway to repair the fault and the PSNI has urged people to avoid the town centre while the repair work is underway.

Omagh Town Sinn Fein councillor, Barry McElduff, says he has been in contact with Power NI urging them to have the problem fixed as soon as possible.

“I have asked for updates throughout the evening as homes and businesses are affected in many areas of the town,” he said.
