Trial of soldier accused of unlawfully killing Aidan McAnespie is adjourned

THE trial of a soldier accused of the unlawful killing of Aidan McAnespie has been adjourned until a later date.

It is due to the unforseen absence of one of the prosecution lawyers involved in the case.

Judge O’Hara made the decision on the fourth day of the trial. He said he would adjourn the case until the ‘earliest possible date’ and adjourned for at least a week.

Holden, a former Guardsman is accused of killing Aidan McAnespie, who was travelling through the permanent vehicle checkpoint at Aughnacloy on February 21, 1988 when he was shot.

Mr Justice O’Hara said it ids disappointing for Holden, as well as the McAnespie family.
