AS club events go, the Omagh St Enda’s event, ‘Quid Games’, hosted by Joe Mc Mahon and Cathal McCarron on Saturday was one of the most entertaining in many years.
Inspired by the popular Netflix series, ‘Squid Game’ – but without the violence! – it was a night of fun and games at O’Neills Healy Park; the bumper crowd adding to the atmosphere that, at times, was fever- pitched.
Taking part were competitors from the club, other clubs across Tyrone and charities, who battled it out in six skill-based games, designed to test accuracy, endurance and hand-eye co-ordination, – all to reach the coveted final.
The extremely well-attended event was eventually won by senior hurling manager, Paul O’Grady, who narrowly beat runner-up, Ellen Gormley, in the decider.
Competitors all fundraised ahead of the event, which was well-supported by five main sponsors: Cassidy Windows; MFC; Omagh Credit Union; Absolute Catering; and P. Kennan Quarries, while further sponsors all got involved with what proved to be a great night.
Joe and Cathal interviewed competitors on the night and kept the craic going throughout, as the Clubspot team kept the games right – and even brought in VAR on a few occasions!
