Bereavement support programme to be launched in Dungannon

A NEW ‘Bereavement Journey Programme’ will begin in Dungannon on Thursday, May 1.

The seven-week programme will take place at its Dungannon Wellbeing Centre, which is located in South Tyrone Hospital.

It will run on Thursday evenings from 7pm to 9pm.

The ‘Bereavement Journey Programme’ is available to anyone who has lost a loved one through a palliative illness and feels they have not yet come to terms with their loss.

It offers a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their grief alongside others experiencing similar challenges.

Participants do not need to have previously engaged with SAH’s services to take part.

Each week, the programme will cover different topics, including ‘attachment, separation and loss’, ‘the impact and pain of bereavement’, ‘coping with others’ reactions’, ‘adjusting to change’, ‘delayed and suppressed grief’ and ‘moving forward’.

There is also an on optional session on faith-related questions.

Past attendees have spoken highly of the programme, with one saying: “It was a safe space for me to journey with others who had understanding and empathy around grief.”

Another former participant added: “It really helped me to face things and issues I was not facing.”
