THE family of a missing Omagh man has appealed to the public, asking for any information on his whereabouts.
Martin Byrne, who is aged 59 and lives in Dromore, went missing last week after he left home for a trip to Turkey over a week ago and was meant to return home on Thursday from Dublin Airport.
However, his family have not heard from him.
The PSNI said that they are currently liaising with Garda Síochána and Interpol about his whereabouts.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police received a report concerning the safety of a 59-year-old man on Friday, April 18.
“Officers are currently making enquiries with colleagues in An Garda Síochána and Interpol.”
His family described Martin as a ‘vulnerable person’ and asked for anyone with any information to come forward and tell the police.
A spokesperson for the family told the Ulster Herald: “Martin left from Dublin airport Saturday, April 12, and we last spoke to him on Sunday, April 13. He was due back Thursday, April 17. He flew into Istanbul Sabiha Airport.
“He is a vulnerable adult. A child in a man’s body and a recovering alcoholic. He told the family he was away to get his teeth done, and we didn’t believe he would actually go.”
They added: “Both the PSNI and the Guards, as well as both embassies, are informed and are working with us to find him.
“The only confirmation we could find in his emails was that he downloaded the boarding pass to board the plane; no other hotel, travel or clinic confirmation.”
