ONE of Omagh’s largest office accommodation buildings will soon be fully-occupied for the first time in nearly two decades, marking a significant boost for the local economy.
Located at the Gortrush Industrial Estate just off the Derry Road, the building had stood largely empty for 18 years. That’s about to change, following its purchase by Omagh-based firm Pro-Drive in 2024 and the decision by three companies to move around 140 staff into the refurbished site.
Pro-Drive, led by Drumquin native Damien McCaffrey, has earned a strong reputation for its role in major business deals across the UK and Ireland.
In 2023, the firm was named ‘Best Construction Company’ at the Omagh Business Awards.
The Tyrone Herald understands that the building’s new occupants will include ED DryLining and MDL Logistics, two industry leaders with 25 years of experience providing drywall and logistics solutions.
Representatives from both companies and others were given a tour of the building and its facilities during a special event on Friday evening.
Speaking at the event, Mr McCaffrey expressed his excitement about the development, to be known as the White Elephant Business Park.
“The fact that around 140 jobs will now be located in this office accommodation is an important step forward,” he said.
“We bought the premises around 18 months ago and since then have been working to ensure that the building is fully occupied.
“Our hope is that the arrival of two new tenants will provide a boost to Gortrush Industrial Estate and the economy of Omagh, and we are also working to ensure that the remaining units in the building are utilised fully in the near future as well,” Mr McCaffrey added.
