Killyclogher man completes tough cycling challenge across Ulster

A KILLYCLOGHER man has completed a remarkable 300-mile cycle across Ulster to raise funds for two children’s charities close to his heart.

Gary Wallace, who runs the children’s fitness business Core Kids, took on the gruelling challenge in aid of the Children’s Heartbeat Trust and TinyLife, organisations dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of young people.

Covering more than 300 miles, Gary travelled through towns and villages across all eight counties of Ulster, raising awareness and vital funds. Along the way, he visited schools, playing games and hosting seminars with pupils.

Speaking after the challenge, Gary described the experience as both physically demanding and deeply rewarding.

“Every mile was worth it when I thought about the difference these charities make to children and their families. It was tough at times, but knowing the cause kept me going,” he said.

The Children’s Heartbeat Trust provides care and support for children with heart disease and their families, while TinyLife is the North’s premature and vulnerable baby charity, offering essential services to families across the region.

Through his work at Core Kids, Gary has long been passionate about children’s health and wellbeing, and said the cycle gave him a chance to combine his love of fitness with his commitment to helping young people thrive.

“Every day, I see how important fitness and wellbeing are for children. These charities do amazing work, and I’m proud to support them. Every mile pedalled, every school visited, and every smile shared makes a difference,” he added.

“I have close friends who have benefited from these amazing charities. With this event, we hope to raise awareness and vital funds so more children and families can access the support they need.”

To celebrate completing the challenge on Friday, Gary hosted a special Family Day at Youthsport, Omagh, with bouncy castles and activities for children.
