Two local athletes struck gold at the Irish Life Health National Senior and U23 Athletics Championships at the weekend.

Young Castlederg woman Sommer Lecky captured gold in both the Senior and U23 competitions with a jump of 1.79 metres at the Morton Stadium.

In the men’s hammer competition Lifford Strabane’s Brendan O’Donnell was the star of the show. He finished top of the podium after an almighty throw of 64.42m, bettering his PB by a whopping four metres.
