Charity hosting walks through stunning Newtownstewart landscape

BEAUTIFUL blooming bluebells will smile upon hundreds of walkers taking part in this weekend’s ‘Annual Bluebell Walks’ at the blossoming Baronscourt Estate for a brilliant cause.

Organised by Newtownstewart Cancer Focus NI group, there will be two fundraising walks for participants to choose from on Sunday (April 27) afternoon, both promising a special day out for all members of the family while raising money for the charity.

The first walk – a scenic trail to the peak of Bessy Bell – is for the intrepid escapder. Boasting spectacular panoramic views of Tyrone’s rolling hill and faraway landscapes, this four mile walk departs at 2pm – and the good news is that you can bring your four-legged friend with you for the adventure!

The second is a pleasing three-mile walk which begins at Baronscourt Estate’s stable yard at 2.30pm and takes participants on a delightfully fragrant dander around the grand grounds with wind around the glittering Baronscourt Lake. Please note: This walk welcomes guide dogs, but non-service pets are not permitted.

All donated gratefully received on the day will be donated to Cancer Focus NI – the North’s leading local cancer charity.

As well as providing care and support services for cancer patients and their families, the charity further offer a range of cancer prevention programmes to help people lessen their risk of getting cancer; fund important scientific research into the causes and treatment of the disease and campaign for better health policy to protect our community and its future.

As most of Cancer Research NI’s work is funded through donations and fundraising, the charity rely on events such as these to continue doing its vital work for those in need and their families across the North.

Bluebells, also known as ‘fairy flowers’, ‘witches,’ thimbles’ and ‘cuckoo’s boots’, are at their peak at this time of year so don’t miss out on your chance to fundraising and frolick among the blossoms!
