A GENEROUS couple from Cranagh raised over £3,000 for charity instead of accepting gifts for their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Francie and Olivia McGillion from Glenelly Rd celebrated 50 years as a married couple in style and also raised the fantastic total of £3,220 for the NI Chest Heart and Stroke charity in lieu of anniversary gifts. Online donations were also made.
The couple started their special celebrations with children and grandchildren on holiday at Lough Eske Castle in Donegal. Later in the week, the couple had a special Mass at St Patrick’s Church in Gortin to mark the anniversary.
Family and friends then joined the couple for a evening celebration at the Shepherd’s Rest in the Sixtowns. The couple said they would like to thank everyone who made a donation and helped support the work of the NI Chest, Heart and Stroke charity.
