Killyclogher Christmas market provides boost for local charities

THE annual Killyclogher artisan Christmas market is returning next week to raise vital funds for St Vincent de Paul (SVP) and Cappagh Parish Fund in the run-up to Christmas.

Local vendors will be selling all types of bespoke arts and crafts along with food items sourced locally and from further afield.

There will also be food stalls at the event, including Kennedy Bacon, which will be making bacon baps and other goodies, along with a stall where fresh wood-fired pizzas will be on offer.

One of the vendors will be well-known potter and the finalist of this year’s hit Channel 4 TV show, Great Pottery Throwdown, Anna McGurn, who will be selling some of her creations at the market.

The majority of proceeds from the day will go to SVP, who provide a number of vital services in the run-up to Christmas, including creating Christmas hampers and distributing utility vouchers.

Frances Mayse, who organises the market along with her daughter Catherine, said she picked the two charities for the market to donate to as she knew that both would guarantee local people would see the benefits from any money raised.

Frances said, “I volunteer in the local SVP shop in Killyclogher and I know all the great work they do in the community. I am also a member of Cappagh Parish, so I wanted to make sure with the run-up to Christmas that the money being raised will go to help people in the local area.

“It will be as busy as ever and is a great day out.”

Admission is free but donations are welcome.

The market will take place at Cappagh Parish Centre from 12 noon to 5pm on Sunday, November 27.
