Omagh floral group receives 50th anniversary baton

OMAGH Floral Art Society’s recent meeting began with the club receiving a golden baton from members of the Erne Flower Arrangement Society.

The baton is a specially designed emblem to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of the Northern Ireland Group of Flower Arrangement Societies, known as NIGFAS to promote ‘Fun and Friendship in Flowers’.

Plans are being made to ensure the baton travels to all flower clubs throughout Northern Ireland for this special occasion.

Chairperson, Ruth Hood and other members from the Enniskillen Club passed the baton to Hazel Speers, chairperson of Omagh Floral Art Society and committee members.

With all the formalities completed, ‘Autumn Glory’ was the theme for the monthly floral demonstration.

Donna Doherty, a florist from ‘Donna’s Flower Box’ in Strabane received a very warm welcome.

Throughout the evening, Donna created splendid floral designs incorporating seasonal flowers and foliages with a burst of autumnal colour. The evening concluded with the designs being raffled and tea was served to all. The next meeting will be on November 17 in St Columba’s Hall Omagh.

Everyone most welcome.
