THE ‘Sounds of Spring’ bloomed at the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, on Thursday, courtesy of Omagh Academy’s talented musicians of all ages.
Audiences were simply awed by the talents of the GCSE and A-Level musicians, including the school’s junior and senior choirs, brass band, woodwind ensemble, string orchestra, and guitar ensemble and the crowds also enjoyed some on-the-beat African drumming.
The school’s diverse talent offered a wide range of musical styles for the masses at the brilliant annual showcase, and it was all organised by the schools talented head of music, Rachel Bingham, and her colleague, Charles Fyffe.
Heralding the students as ‘superb’, a delighted Rachel said, “Spring Sounds 2024 is over, the Strule has been packed away, and all is packed away again – but the memories are strong. We are very proud.
“Thank you to our wonderful pupils who mastered a wide range of music and delivered a fantastic performance after fantastic performance. Thank you, too, to the instrumental tutors who are our colleagues and friends, and give so freely of their expertise.
“And to the parents, families and friends who attended, supported and encouraged so faithfully… What brilliant audiences!
“Thanks, also, to the wonderful team at the Strule Arts Centre – we love this venue! – and thank you to Jude and Stephen who captured our images and sound. We can’t wait to see and hear it all again.”
