FINTONA Amateur Dramatic Society are getting ready to stage a third performance of their new play after selling out the first two shows.
The turnout for the first two performances of the Second Honeymoon far exceeded expectations.
This has prompted the group, which last arranged a show all the way back in 2014, to put on a further performance at St Patrick’s Hall in Fintona this Friday, May 9.
On the night, doors open at 7.15pm with the show beginning at 8pm.
Second Honeymoon is a hilarious comedy play set in 1920s County Down by Irish playwright Sam Cree.
Staged in a local boutique bed and breakfast hotel in Bangor, several Belfast characters find themselves thrown together and over the course of a week their lives intertwine and unlikely friendships are formed.
The characters are all from different social backgrounds meeting for various reasons in the aforementioned hotel. The play is suitable for all ages and boasts a rich cast of talented local actors.
Speaking about the show, Fintona Drama Society chair Michael Colgan said: “We have been rehearsing the show since late January three nights a week and the cast of 12 have loved it.
“The group took a break of over ten years since our last production and we couldn’t believe how will attended and received this one has been. We hope to put on more shows with this cast in the near future and we won’t be taking any breaks anytime soon.”
All proceeds from the play will be donated to Air Ambulance NI and the Tara Centre, Omagh, who provide a multi-disciplinary range of therapeutic services, programmes and workshops to support holistic wellbeing.
