The Breeze release new single ahead of album launch

With an abundance of charm and catchy vocal melodies mixed with subtle undertones found in the darkest corner of a smokey old jazz club, ‘The Breeze’ have released a song that emulates the hypothetical sounds of The Beach Boys and Tom Waits heading off on holiday together.

A truly delightful and mesmerising two-and-a-half minute track, ‘Goodbye Heart’ is the band’s second single from their upcoming debut album, ‘Thin Ground’, due to be released in March via Style Records.

The local music collective is made up of long-time collaborators Chris Coll (of Lost In The Fog), Decky McManus (of The Basement) and Stevie Scullion (of Malojian).

Speaking with the UH this week, Chris Coll of Omagh – whose name may seem familiar as the illustrator in our regular ‘Notes From The Boneyard’ feature – said that the upcoming album is a ‘collaborative effort’.

Chris explained that, “We were all previously involved in different acts and projects, so this album originated largely from the bones of a handful of ideas from each of us.

“However, it wasn’t until the three of us came together that they were able to reach their full potential.”

To date, The Breeze have played shows all over the North and South of Ireland as well as a handful of shows in England in a bid to get their name out their ahead of the release of ‘Thin Ground’.

Having been described previously as ‘a collaboration built on the trio’s various sounds and influences, and their years of experiences of the weird world of a touring musician’ you can guarantee that their debut album will offer something for everyone to enjoy.

The Breeze are set to hit the road from late March on tour in support of the new album, so keep an eye out for a show near you and don’t miss your chance to catch this intriguing new Irish act in 2024.
