TRIBUTES have been paid to respected hurler and latest A5 victim, Caolan Devlin, at his requiem mass this morning.
Caolan died following a road traffic collision on the A5 Curr Road between Omagh and Ballygawley around 7pm on Tuesday evening.
He is survived by his parents Gerard and Margaret, brother Niall, extended family and friends.
Parish priest Eugene O’Neill described Caolan as a ‘quiet and good young man’ who tried to bring happiness to everyone he met.
“Today is a day of great sadness and shock as we say farewell to the young man who was just starting out in his life, still filled with hopes, dreams and ambitions like every young man in this world is,” said Fr O’Neill.
“Caolan was a quiet young man but he was a good man who took the time in his ordinary way to try and bring love, goodness and happiness to the lives of all those who he met.
“His life was short but it was a life that counted – a life which changed so many others,” he added.
Aged 30, he was a respected hurler with the Naomh Colmcille hurling club winning numerous Tyrone Junior titles with them. He also represented Tyrone at Minor hurling level. A guard of honour was assembled outside the chapel.
After the mass Caolan was laid to rest in SS Mary and Joseph’s Church, Brackaville Road.
