THE residents of Harold McCauley House got into the Christmas spirit early as they enjoyed a special afternoon of song and dance with DJ Chris.
Chris Morrow, of DJ Chris Entertainments, delighted residents as he brought his Christmas Care Home Roadshow for an afternoon of festive fun and dance.
Residents in the home had a ball while the afternoon was live-streamed out to families so they could watch their loved ones enjoying the event, while families were also asked to send in messages for the residents.
DJ Chris has been visiting care homes throughout the North to generously put on a free one-hour long Christmas disco for the residents and staff.
Jacqueline Hunter from Harold McCauley House said it was exactly what the staff and residents needed to lift their spirits ahead of Christmas.
“All the residents and staff at Harold McCauley House had a fabulous afternoon with DJ Chris,” she said. “We cannot begin to tell you how much we all needed an event like this.
“A bit of music and cheer makes all the difference.
“We love our music and were used to many musicians and singers coming to entertain us but due to the current situation, we have not been able to enjoy the normal entertainers.
“We knew that it was going to be broadcast live on Facebook for all our family and friends to watch. We can only imagine what the family of our residents thought when they were able to see their loved ones really enjoying themselves.
“We were all buzzing and it continued over a number of days.
“We’d like to thank DJ Chris for the positive impact his incredible and selfless act of kindness has had on not only the residents but also our staff, our families and friends,” added Jacqueline.
A familiar face all across Tyrone and beyond, Chris was a regular DJ at Lola’s nightclub at the Silverbirch Hotel in Omagh and has worked with many of biggest stars of country music like Philomena Begley and Susan McCann.
But like so many others in the entertainment sector, all his bookings were cancelled by the outbreak of the virus.
Speaking about his festive roadshow, Chris said, “One of the biggest things about this year, has been the whole impact on mental health and when I think about the residents in our care homes, I know that they are missing their families so much.
“So all I want to do is bring a smile to their faces and play some of their favourite songs and bring some Christmas cheer.”
