SHOPPERS are set to be serenaded with songs on the sunny streets of Omagh once more, thanks to a very special live music programme delivered by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.
Titled ‘Live & Local @ Lunchtime’, the upbeat programme features live performances by a cornucopia of the county’s most-loved artists, with high notes and low, guitar solos and toe-tapping beats, swirling the airwaves of the town every Saturday from now until the very end of August.
Taking place in Omagh town centre each Saturday from 12pm until 2.30pm, the programme runs until the end of August 2021.
Performers will include Brothers Inc; Dermott Taggart; Bronagh Broderick; Shaun Loughrey; Cian Maguire; Sean Corrigan; Francie Smith; and there are more artists to be announced!
‘Incredible talent’
Speaking with excitement about the ‘Live & Local @ Lunchtime’ programme – which is also taking place in Enniskillen town centre – the chairperson of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Cllr Errol Thompson said the programme gives local musicians the perfect opportunity to once more show off their fantastic talents to audiences in person.
“I am delighted to see the return of the council’s popular ‘Live & Local at Lunchtime’ music programme which proved so successful when introduced last year,” Mr Thompson said.
“Not only does it help with the revitalisation and recovery of the businesses in both Enniskillen and Omagh town centres, but it also affords local musicians the opportunity to return to live performances and to showcase their incredible talent.
“I am confident that shoppers and visitors to the town centres will enjoy the wonderful entertainment on offer as they support local businesses and livelihoods by shopping local.”
The lunchtime music sessions are just one part of the Council’s programme to welcome shoppers back to Enniskillen and Omagh town centres while supporting local artists.
