A MAJOR Covid-19 vaccination drive is to take place in Omagh later this week as statistics from the Department for Health show record levels of the virus locally.
The incident rates in the Fermanagh and Omagh area have hit a record high of 1,046 per 100,000 and several local postcode areas are recording rates in access of 1,000 per 100k. They include Aughnacloy.
Details of the latest high figures have just been revealed in the Department for Health’s daily updates.
They show Fermanagh and Omagh were the highest rate in the north. It also recorded the highest rate on Friday of last week.
The mobile vaccination clinic in Omagh this Thursday will afford local residents a further opportunity to receive a first dose vaccination, right on their doorstep, according to the Western Trust.
Backed by local community groups and sporting organisations, the pop-up clinic at Strathroy Community Centre in the town will aim to address a shortfall in vaccinations in the area, and will build on the hugely-successful Big Jab event last weekend which saw 3850 vaccines administered across the Western Trust’s three main vaccination sites.
