A RADICAL new plan could see the introduction of a European-style coffee culture outside several Omagh night-spots in the months ahead.
Initiatives currently being considered include the temporary closure of John Street and other areas of the town in order to facilitate queues outside retail premises and also cater for greater numbers of revellers at weekends.
The proposals are set to be brought to next week’s meeting of the Omagh Town Centre Forum by local councillor Barry McElduff.
John McGirr of Sallys and Andrew Short of the Blind Cobbler have this week backed the potential arrangements as they endeavour to bounce back from the devastating impact of the coronavirus lockdown.
Speaking to the Ulster Herald, Mr McGirr said outdoor space would become increasingly vital as social distancing continues, and that the example of France and other European countries could be emulated here.
