VANDALS have caused extensive damage at the entrance to the Strule Arts Centre in Omagh, after removing and smashing granite steps.
The incident is understood to have happened in the early hours of Sunday morning and may have been recorded on CCTV.
It included significant littering and the removal and smashing of the stone steps.
Omagh town Sinn Fein councillor, Barry McElduff, said he was angry and disappointed at what he described as “senseless vandalism.”
“What was immediately obvious to me was that the smashing of the granite steps took considerable physical effort. This was no light touch and three of the granite slabs were smashed at a high cost to the council,” he said.
