Another successful test run at Hurtlocker

STRABANE’S Hurtlocker Gym took a step closer to hosting their first open doubles Hyrox event when they held an in-house half sim.

Having already entertained their members with a full simulation doubles event several weeks prior, organisers were keen to host another, shorter format race, during which athletes cover half the distance and take on half the reps, in order to iron out any possible issues that may occur when they hold their first ever open Hyrox in the near future.

And one of the organisers, Sean Mills, feels it was a worthwhile exercise that leaves, not only the gym’s members, but the owners themselves well placed to hold an open doubles Hyrox sim sooner rather than later.

“It gave everyone an idea of what to expect and it will give our members a bit of confidence to know they can do it,” he beamed.

“And it means we know exactly what we’re doing when we run an open event next, which is why we held it, to iron out any of the kinks we noticed during the first one.

“It was brilliant.”
