Charlie enjoys start to finish victory

CHARLIE Condy enjoyed a successful conclusion to round seven of the Ulster Karting Championship at Nutts Corner where he started on pole and held on for the win. After enjoying a couple of dry practice runs on the Friday, the weather changed considerably during race day, with rain falling throughout.

During the first heat, the Ballygawley racer started eighth on the grid and made it look easy as he passed the karts in front and by the last corner on the first lap he took the lead, before sealing a comfortable victory.

The track started drying out during heat two when Charlie started in 13th place. Again Charlie had a great first lap making his way up to fifth place and holding his position as he crossed the line.

The third heat was cancelled due to the rain, so grid positions were based on the first two races, leaving Charlie on pole position out of 21 karts and when the lights went out he held on to first, despite coming under a little pressure midway through, before pulling a gap and sealing another victory.

A spokesperson for CC Racing said after the day’s racing, “It was a great result for Charlie again. We didn’t get the set-up 100 per cent in the second heat unfortunately, but still happy Charlie got 5th and a well-deserved win in the final.

“I couldn’t do this without my Mum (Jill) and my Dad (Ivor). Thanks to my Sodi team and sponsors” added Charlie.
