COUSINS and Caldwell Cycles team-mates, Odhran Doogan and Joseph Owens enjoyed a successful outing at the National Junior Track Championships in Dublin on Saturday
Seventeen year-old Doogan scooped two gold medals, while Owens, also 17, claimed one as the pair excelled against Ireland’s top two wheeled talents on the track.
In the junior 3km pursuit Doogan beat Stefan Caulfield Dreier (Killarney CC) in the gold-silver ride-off; 3.51.26 Vs 3.51.50, with Owens sixth.
Doogan again came out with gold in the kilo TT with a time of 1.13.29, from McLoughlin (1.13.69) and O’Loughlin (1.13.82), with Sixmilecross lad Owens seventh and East Tyrone’s Kyle Glasgow ninth.
Doogan also finished sixth in the junior men’s sprint, while Glasgow was ninth and Omagh CBS pupil Owens tenth.
The scratch race saw another title go to Caldwell Cycles; this time Joseph Owens winning from Caulfield-Dreier and Eoghan Cooke (Ounavarra Cycling Club), while Doogan was fifth.
