Equal parts joy and heartbreak in thrilling Division Two climax

A TRULY dramatic climax to Division Two unfolded this afternoon.

First of all, it was all set up for Aghyaran to take the league title, but their defeat to Killeeshil meant they were leapfrogged into second place by Greencastle, who won their final day clash against Kildress.

It was a hugely disappointing afternoon for Aghyaran, who probably should’ve put the league to bed before they were defeated today on a scoreline of 2-6 to 0-13.

Killeeshil’s victory also had massive consequences for themselves as their victory ensured they stay up in the Intermediate ranks for a second year.

There was also jubilation for Tattyreagh as a last-gasp goal in stoppage time from James Darcy claimed a two-point victory over Owen Roes. In doing so, he saved their bacon and they’ll also play in Division Two next season.

There was also drama in Division One as Derrylaughan’s win over Donaghmore meant that they stay up for another year, while Eglish and Galbally fell through the relegation backdoor, joining already-relegated Edendork and Pomeroy.
