ERRIGAL Ciaran and Trillick have booked their places in the Tyrone Senior Championship semi-finals following comprehensive victories in the last eight.
Trillick got the ball roll last night with a resounding 3-14 to 1-6 win over Killyclogher. Nigel Seaney’s side produced a much-improved performance and found themselves with a 0-9 to 0-3 advantage with 25 minutes gone.
They looked in total control of the contest but Killyclogher scored 1-2 without reply as they staged a revival with Mark Bradley netting the rebound after missing from the penalty spot.
However that was as good as it got as Trillick reassumed control for the entirety of the second-half with Rory Brennan scoring two super goals.
Promising young half-back Seanie O’Donnell, who finished with 1-3 to his name, also found the net, and all Killyclogher could muster was a single point after the break. Trillick will now play the winners of tomorrow’s contest between Dromore and Eglish in the semi-finals.
Errigal Ciaran, meanwhile, were deserving 2-9 to 0-7 victors over underdogs Loughmacrory in terrible weather conditions at Carrickmore this afternoon. Errigal, who were playing into a stiff breeze in the first-half, didn’t score for the first twenty minutes, though they soon got a goal when Cathal Corrigan palmed to the net.
The sides were level at the break, but Errigal dominated the second-half, controlling the tempo of the game while substitute Ruairi Canavan showed incredible skill and opportunism to lob the keeper from 40 yards, making light of the weather conditions. They’ll now play the winners of tomorrow’s game between Carrickmore and Coalisland.
Meanwhile, Eskra and Cookstown will contest the Junior Championship in a fortnight’s time. League champions Eskra claimed a 3-11 to 0-10 victory over Urney with an impressive team display. Veteran Joe Carroll scored two palmed goals after flowing team moves, while Johnny Hackett also goaled. Cookstown, meanwhile, were full value for their 0-13 to 1-8 victory over Drumagh. They got the win even though their free-taker Matthew Carberry was ruled out with injury, and they limited Drumragh to only two points in the second-half.
