GAA club training permitted to return from April 12

THE GAA’S Covid Advisory Body has given the green light for collective club training to return from April 12.

The Stormont Executive announced last week that outdoor training in groups of up to 15 people could recommence from April 12, but there was still considerable uncertainty as to whether the GAA at national level would allow clubs in the north to return before their southern counterparts.

However, it has emerged this evening in reports from the Irish Independent that the GAA’s Covid Advisory Body has decided to allow adult and underage teams to return to the training pitch on April 12.

In comments that generated considerable debate, Tyrone chairman Mickey Kerr said last week that he favoured a 32-county approach from the GAA, but it now appears likely that clubs across the north will indeed be back in training before the south.
