MICKEY Harte’s future as Tyrone senior intercounty manager hangs in the balance after his request for a one-year extension was turned down by the County Management Committee last night, the Ulster Herald can reveal.
It is understood that Harte, whose three-year contract granted at the end of 2017 has come to an end, requested another year in charge.
But according to sources close to the Management Committee, his request was turned down.
It remains to be seen what will happen next but it seems likely that nominations will be invited from the clubs ahead of next month’s annual convention, and Harte may ultimately need to undergo an interview to maintain his position.
