Heywood hoping to be in the mix for Warriors

THE NW Warriors return to interprovincial action next week and one man hoping to be in the mix is Fox Lodge captain Aaron Heywood who has been one of the most consistent performers in the trial matches that have taken place over the last few weeks.

Head Coach Ian McGregor has taken the opportunity to rule the roost over 35 players from 13 clubs across the NW, with Heywood featuring in all the matches.

“The Warriors intra-squad games have been a great addition this year in the circumstances,” said Heywood.

“I personally feel as though I have benefitted from the challenge of playing against the top players in the region, and without doubt the youngsters who are coming through are of real quality.”

The 22 year-old has appreciated mixing alongside the best players in the province, and Heywood has tapped into the knowledge and mindset of them, including South African born Graham Hume who is currently qualifying for Irish residency.
