Mulhern Cup clash goes ahead following unsuccessful appeal

THE outstanding Mulhern Cup quarter-final tie between Dergview Reserves and NFC Kesh will be played at Ferney Park this evening (kick-off 7.30pm).

The tie was orginally pencilled in for Darragh Park last month but visitors Kesh refused to play it when they learned the game was going to played on the adjacent pitch to the main pitch at the Castlederg venue.

Kesh claimed the switch, due to the main pitch being unplayable, constituted a ‘change of venue’ while Dergview Reserves argued that they had not specified which pitch the game was to be played on.

The Fermanagh and Western FA subsequently ruled that the last-eight tie should be played at a neutral venue, namely the small 3G pitch at the Bawnacre Centre, Irvinestown.

Dergview Reserves appealed that decision but last week an IFA appeals committee backed the Fermanagh and Western ruling and the tie was subsequently refixed for Ferney Park this evening.

The winner of tonight’s game will go forward to meet Augher Stars in the semi-final. The other last four clash between Enniskillen Rangers and Tummery Athletic will be played at Ferney Park tomorrow (Thursday) evening.

Meanwhile, Tummery Athletic’s protest against Enniskillen Rangers’ suspended player Jordan McClure being in attendance for the Junior Cup semi-final clash between the sides at Ferney Park last month will be heard by the IFA Disciplinary Committee this evening.

Rangers won the last four encounter 3-1.
